Scientific Background: IKKs are responsible for phosphorylation of the IkB protein thereby allowing their destruction and subsequent activation of the NFκB complex. IKKα is an essential regulator of NFκB-dependent gene expression through control of promoter-associated histone phosphorylation after cytokine exposure.
