Storage, Stability, and Shipping: Store product at –70
oC. For optimal storage, aliquot target into smaller quantities after centrifugation and store at recommended temperature. For most favorable performance, avoid repeated handling and multiple freeze/thaw cycles.
Applications: Kinase Assay, Western Blot
Molecular Weight: ~84 kDa
Gene Aliases: ADRBK2; BARK2
Scientific Background: GRK3 or beta-adrenergic receptor kinase 2 specifically phosphorylates the agonist-occupied form of the beta-adrenergic and related G protein-coupled receptors. GRK3 is a member of the receptor kinase family that broadly serves to regulate receptor function (1). GRK3 has 85% amino acid similarity with beta adrenergic receptor kinase 1, with the protein kinase catalytic domain having 95% similarity. GRK3 is highly expressed in lung, heart, and adipose tissue (2). Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the promoter region of GRK3 have been associated with bipolar disorder.
