Specificity: Recognizes the ELK1 protein
Cited Applications: WB
Cross Reactivity: Western blot human ELK1
ELK1 from other species may also be detectable
Host: Rabbit
Immunogen: Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 387-391 of human ELK1
Formulation: PBS, pH7.4, 0.02%NaN3, 50% glycerol
Purification: Affinity Chromatography
Stability: Store at 4
oC (add 0.1% NaN
3) for several months, and at -20
oC for longer periods.
For optimal storage, aliquot target into smaller quantities after centrifugation and store at recommended temperature. For optimal performance, avoid repeated handling and multiple freeze/thaw cycles.
Scientific Background: ELK1 is a member of the ETS oncogene family of transcription factors (1). ELK1 protein interacts with promoter of the c-fos proto-oncogene and has been shown to be involved in the Ras-Raf-MAPK signaling cascade (1). Immature phosphorylation of transcription factor ELK-1 is implicated in premature aging syndrome and insulin resistance. Expression studies have revealed that elevated expression of ELK1-like protein in human esophageal can result in squamous cell carcinoma (2).
