Scientific Background: TAOK3 or TAO kinase 3 is a member of the serine/threonine-protein kinase family that inhibits the basal activity of Jun kinase and is negatively regulated by epidermal growth factor (EGF) (1). Overexpression of TAOK3 may activate the ERK1/ERK2 and JNK/SAPK targets. TAOK3 is highly expressed in peripheral blood leukocytes (PBLs), thymus, spleen, kidney, skeletal muscle, heart and liver (2).
