Scientific Background: Trail or TNF-related apoptosis inducing ligand is a cytokine that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family which function as prominent mediators of immune regulation and the inflammatory response. TRAIL induces significant cell death in human colon polyps and providing a potentially selective approach for colorectal cancer chemoprevention by targeting APC-deficient cells for apoptosis (1). TRAIL plays a crucial role in hepatic cell death and hepatic inflammation (2).
