Overview:
1-phosphatidylinositol 4, 5-bisphosphate phosphodiester-ase beta-1 (PLCB1) is one of the best characterized isoenzymes in the inositide specific phospholipase C (PI-PLC) family. Responsible for the hydrolysis of the phosphatidilinool-4, 5-bisphophate (PIP2), generating the second messengers inositol-1, 4, 5-triphosphate and di-acylglycerol. It is a key molecule for nuclear inositide signaling, where it plays a role in cell cycle progression, proliferation and differentiation.
