Overview:

MAST3 belongs to the microtubule-associated serine / threonine-protein kinase family, which is characterized by containing a serine/threonine kinase domain and a PDZ domain, and is highly expressed in brain (1). MSAT3 suppresses the degradation and promotes phosphorylation of tumor suppressor PTEN via binding to specific PDZ domains (2). MSAT3 is known to modulate the immune functions in inflammatory bowel diseases via regulating NF-kB, cell adhesion and/or migration and production of pro-inflammatory cytokines (3).
