Overview:
Jumonji domain-containing 6 protein (JMJD6) encodes a bifunctional arginine demethylase and lysyl-hydroxylase that displays dual activities as a histone arginine demethylase and a lysyl-hydroxylase. It demethylates histone H3 at arginine 2 (H3R2) and histone H4 at arginine 3 (H4R3). Acts as a regulator of RNA splicing by mediating 5-hydroxylation of U2AF2/U2AF65, affecting the pre-mRNA splicing activity of U2AF2/U2AF65.
