Overview:
SRMS is a Src-related kinase lacking C-terminal regulatory tyrosine and N-terminal myristylation sites that is involved in proliferation or differentiation of keratinocytes in the skin. SRMS functions as a rapid downstream signaling intermediate following calcium-induced differentiation in keratinocytes. SRMS constitutes a new family of non-receptor tyrosine kinases that may be redundant in function (1). SRMS can act either in the membrane or at the nucleus, and may change localization patterns depending on external stimuli.
