Overview:
PI3K (p110 delta/p85 alpha) is a member of the PI3K family that phosphorylates phosphoinositides on the 3-hydroxyl group of the inositol ring (1). PI3K (p110 delta/p85 alpha) plays a role in oncogenic transformation, and is consistently expressed at a high level in blast cells from AML. PI3K (p110 delta/p85 alpha) can play a selective role in the amplification of phosphatidylinositol (3,4,5) trisphosphate (PIP3) levels that lead to neutrophil polarization, and regulates directional migration, but not random locomotion (2). PI3K (p110 delta/p85 alpha) signaling pathway is involved in immune responses relevant to the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory diseases.
