Overview:
CyclinD3 protein is a member of the D-type cyclins. D-type cyclins are regulators of cell cycle and interact with several transcription factors modulating their transcriptional activations. CyclinD3 forms a complex and functions as a regulatory subunit of CDK4 or CDK6 that regulates the cell-cycle during G1/S transition. The complex also regulates the G1 restriction point of cell cycle via phosphorylating the retinoblastoma protein, which is a tumor suppressor protein. (1) Therefore, abnormal expression of CyclinD3 has been associated with tumorigenesis. Abnormal expression of CyclinD3 is observed in bladder carcinoma and several human B-lymphoid malignancies. (2)
