Overview:

Adiponectin is an adipose-derived secreted protein that influences the body’s response to insulin. Adiponectin belongs to the soluble defence collagen super family and is involved with the promotion of adipocyte differentiation, fatty acid catabolism, and insulin resistance. Recombinant adiponectin is a multimeric glycoprotein that also has anti-inflammatory effects on the cell lining of blood vessel walls. High blood levels of adiponectin are associated with reduced risks of heart attacks while low levels are associated with obesity and an increased risk of heart attacks.

Gene Aliases:

30 kDa adipocyte complement-related protein, Adipocyte complement-related 30 kDa protein, Adipocyte, C1q and collagen domain-containing protein, Adipose most abundant gene transcript 1 protein, Gelatin-binding protein.

Genbank Number:

Storage, Stability and Shipping:

The lyophilized protein is stable for at least one year from date of receipt at -70oC. Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2o - 8oC for one month, or at -20oC for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Endotoxin Level:

<1.0 EU/μg of recombinant protein as determined by the LAL method.

Molecular Weight:

24.8 kDa

Reconstitution Protocol:

Reconstitute in sterile deionized water to 0.1 mg/ml.

Sample Cell Assay Data:

The ED50, as determined by a cytotoxic assay (using M1 cells) was found to be 3.0-6.0 μg/ml.

Purity:

Recombinant Human Adiponectin (Acrp30) resolved on a 15% SDS-PAGE gel under reducing conditions and stained with Coomassie Brilliant Blue G-250.
