Overview:

The Dedicator of Cytokinesis 5 (DOCK5) protein belongs to the DOCK family of guanine nucleotide exchange factors (GEFs) that play a crucial role in the regulation of Rho GTPases, particularly RhoA, Rac1, and Cdc42, which are pivotal in cellular signaling and cytoskeletal dynamics. The SH3 (Src homology 3) domain is a conserved protein module within DOCK5 that is implicated in protein-protein interactions and signaling pathways. The SH3 domain is a structurally conserved protein module, typically composed of about 50-70 amino acids, and is known to mediate protein-protein interactions through recognition of specific proline-rich motifs in binding partners. This domain plays a significant role in signaling pathways, cellular adhesion, and intracellular trafficking by facilitating the assembly of signaling complexes.
