Overview:
HEMK1 belongs to the HemK methyltransferase family, members of which are found in genomes from bacteria to humans (1). HEMK1 methylates the glutamine residue in the GGQ motif of HMRF1L, a human mitochondrial release factor, and plays an important regulatory role in translation termination process (2).
